For the past two decades, Merit has proudly served as the dedicated framework partner for Vishay - Newport Wafer Fab, playing an integral role in all aspects of construction and design. Merit was chosen as the contractor of choice back in 2004, tasked with conducting all design and feasibility studies for Newport Wafer Fab, formerly known as Infineon and International Rectifiers. Since then, we have maintained a dedicated on-site team, with our vision and objectives closely aligned with the high-quality standards and processes of Newport Wafer Fab.
Merit has successfully managed a diverse range of projects, including design, feasibility studies, cleanroom expansions, tool hookup, and refurbishment works. Our team has seamlessly integrated into Newport Wafer Fab’s operations, ensuring a truly collaborative approach that drives excellence in project management, design, and construction performance daily.
Notable projects include cleanroom expansions and the installation of new base build systems, where we have consistently met stringent deadlines. A prime example is the £1.3 million test area cleanroom project, completed with remarkable efficiency—constructed, validated, and operational in just 13 weeks.
Our project values vary widely, reflecting the diverse needs of Newport Wafer Fab, from small-scale works valued at £5,000 to significant projects such as the £1 million implanter tool cleanroom and the Fab 10 expansion project at £18m.
Merit is currently delivering an array of projects for Vishay, including the fab 11 tool hookup, a £1.6m new implanter cleanroom, a £3.8m fab 10 EPI cleanroom and the Fab 10 roof repairs.
